During the Victorian era, railings became increasingly popular and were used to mark the boundaries of houses from the public highway and to provide a level of security. Tempered Glass
- Processed by controlled thermal treatment to increase its strength compared with normal glass. If broken, the glass crumbles into small granular chunks instead of jagged shards
